NIU HISTORY

The NIU NSBE Chapter was recognized by the Student Association as an official student organization in 1992. However, with its remaining members graduating, NIU NSBE eventually became inactive for years to come. In 2009, a group of students from the Black Male Initiative (BMI), also called "Possy" eventually reestablished the chapter with the help from the BMI advisor, Don Bramlett. By 2012, the chapter was reorganized and drafted a constitution that established them as a recognized chapter within NSBE.
